On a stunning morning in April 2020, while we are all quarantined and social distancing, I took a morning to head out to the Sturgeon Bay shipping canal for a sunrise shoot.  Luckily for us in WI, we are allowed to head out in to nature as long as we practice safe and responsible social distancing guidelines.  I am sure to do that!  I almost never go out to shoot with people as I feel like it adversely affects my creativity.  In addition to being alone in nature, I feel like aerial drone photography adds another element of social distancing since I can operate my drone from a really decent distance from my subject and anyone else around.

On the morning of April 5, 2020 I was out at the shipping canal for the first time in ages.  I shot some long exposure blue hour stuff with my Sony, but once the sun came up I packed up my camera and sent the drone out.  I think this is my favorite drone photo I have taken to date.  The clouds were stunning and the lighting was fantastic.  And it doesn’t help to have my favorite lighthouse in the photo as well.  🙂
