I absolutely LOVE when a client tells me, “the more creative, the better.”  That gives me so much leeway to create images that are completely unique to one particular wedding day.  Those were my instructions on last weekend and the day resulted in some of my favorite wedding photos of the year!

Saturday was a super fun wedding day as family and friends celebrated Magen and Logan. Saturday was a super fun wedding day as family and friends celebrated Magen and Logan.  They had a true Door County wedding with island hopping on the ferry, Norwegian chapels, and a stunning sunset.

The day began on beautiful Washington Island in Door County with the ceremony taking place at the famous Stavkirke chapel.

After the ceremony, it was time to head to the reception in Baileys Harbor.  So we headed down to catch the ferry and of course we captured a couple of photos during the crossing!

As we arrived at beautiful Gordon Lodge for the reception.  The rain stopped and the evening turned absolutely gorgeous!  The boathouse was expertly decorated and the amazing Gordon Lodge staff was ready for the group. 

When dinner and speeches were completed, the group enjoyed the view and atmosphere of North Bay as Magen and Logan had their first dance as a married couple.

So a little rain happened early in the day.  As the saying goes, rain on your wedding day is most definitely good luck!  I say this as a photographer who does a lot of landscape work.  The BEST sunsets are ALWAYS after a rain storm as the sky clears.  This day did not disappoint!  We headed out to the pier to catch the sun as it set with an amazing show of clouds and color.
